Our friends at the Whitman Amateur Radio Club are wrapping up their Tech class. As an additional resource, they are offering an Elmer class aimed at newly licensed Tech class operators. This is also a great opportunity, if you know someone who got their license, but never did much with it, to help them get on the air as well. Saturday, October 10 from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Whitman Police Station training room. Please share this with anyone you know that could benefit from the class.

Took advantage of the nice weather and went on another POTA adventure. Hiked in to Camp Cachalot US-11615 (2.43 miles in total). Found a nice shady spot at the old firing range among the ruins of the camp. We were both able to make our activations.

What do you do when your vehicle needs a new windshield. You pack your POTA gear, play Frogger trying to cross 44, get permission from the U-Haul to access US-0891 from behind their building and go play radio. I hunted KB1WCK Joe and WC1N Bob on CW and KB1NNH Gerry on SSB. Not a bad way to make 2 hours fly by. de WA1TOM.

“The scope of this exercise is limited to essentially getting folks on the air to check into nets, test their equipment and send a few tactical messages via voice or Winlink at their discretion. Where the major winter storms/blizzards in February precluded us from any exercises during that timeframe, we thought at least getting a mini-exercse down ahead of the remainder of severe weather and hurricane season was reasonable to do here now.”
The Bridgewater .18 repeater will be linked to the New England Echolink conference 9123 and MMRA for this exercise so we can
get South Shore participation.
